Hello!!
I was just wondering about linking issues and pull requests together. I have the need to accomplish using the REST or GraphQL APIs, but with all of my research and attempts, it seems that my result has proven that this capability is not possible.
Let me give some more context.
First Attempt:
The first attempt I tried was with using the REST API. After searching through the Issues and Pulls APIs, I could not find anything that gives this ability.
After extensive Google searching, One thing that I attempted was using ChatGPT to see what kinds of insights it could give me. It did give me information that I thought maybe would work. Things such as patch requests with a body payload and etc. were suggestions, which I attempted, but did not work. It seems that the suggestion was incorrect.
Second Attempt:
The second attempt was to get into the GraphQL API. I also went through this extensively, (as well as getting up to speed because I never used it before, 😉), and came up with nothing. The closest thing I found was the updatePullRequest mutation, but the UpdatePullRequestInput input field does not have any fields that take issue ids. This was actually suggested by ChatGPT as well but just like the suggestions with the REST API, was incorrect and just simply does not exist.
Does anybody know how to link issues and pull requests together using either the REST or GraphQL APIs? I am not the only one to come across this issue and this seems like something that is really needed by custom action and app developers.
Any help or insights would be fantastic!!
